Why Supporting Local Matters

This week is Small Business Week, 1stโ€“7th June, and is a great opportunity to celebrate the independent businesses that help make our communities thrive.

At Country Harvest, we’re proud to be an independent business, and we know first-hand the positive impact that shopping locally can have. Every purchase, recommendation and visit helps support not only our business, but other businesses in Ingleton too.

Supporting Local Suppliers

When you shop local, you’re not only supporting us as a business, you’re also providing support to other local business. Wherever possible, we work with suppliers from Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cumbria (and beyond), helping to showcase some of the fantastic produce and products our region has to offer.

From local cheeses and artisan food products to gifts and seasonal favourites, choosing local means helping smaller producers continue to grow and succeed.

Supporting Local Jobs

When you support an independent business, you’re helping to support local employment opportunities too.

Behind every business are dedicated teams working hard to provide excellent products and service. From our butchers and deli team to our coffee shop, food hall and clothing hall staff, every purchase helps support local jobs and families within our community.

Community Involvement

Independent businesses often play an important role within their local communities, and we’re proud to be involved in a variety of local events, initiatives and causes throughout the year.

Whether it’s sponsoring local events, supporting community projects or helping bring people together, we believe businesses should give back to the communities that support them.

Supporting Local Charities

As well as supporting local suppliers and the wider community, we are passionate about raising money for worthwhile causes as much as we can.

Each year we choose a Charity of the Year and organise fundraising activities to support their important work. These events not only raise vital funds but also bring together customers, staff and the local community for a shared cause.

Our Partnership with St John’s Hospice

This year, we are proud to support St John’s Hospice.

St John’s Hospice provides compassionate care and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families across our region. Their work makes a huge difference to so many people, and we are delighted to play a small part in helping raise funds and awareness for such an important local charity.

Throughout the year, we’ll be hosting fundraising events, including our upcoming Bingo Bash, with all proceeds helping to support the incredible work of the hospice.
